Detroit Lions Work Out Corner Dimitri Patterson

The Detroit Lions brought in corner Dimitri Patterson for a workout today.  While the team did not rule out Champ Bailey, the fact that they have an open roster spot coming at some point today makes us wonder if Patterson is their guy.  The Lions beat reporters all noted that the front office and players were all gathered around him watching his workout.  They said that they had not seen anything like that which is odd considering Bailey, a future Hall of Hame player, worked out last week and did not have a crowd around him.

Patterson is famously known as the corner that went AWOL while with the New York Jets in preseason.  Patterson was promptly released from the team after signing a decent deal with the Jets in the offseason.  Prior to that, he bounced around the league a bit playing in Philadelphia, Miami, Minnesota, Cleveland, and almost in New York.

Dimitri Patterson is a difficult player to figure out.  He has not started many games in his career, and when he has, his production is all over the place.  As a rookie, he recorded an interception.  In two other seasons he recorded 4 interceptions each season.  The problem is, there does not seem to be any pattern with his production.  Add to that the concerns about him going AWOL and he seems to be a rather unattractive option given what is currently out there.
