Detroit Lions Trim Roster To 75
|
The Detroit Lions announced their full list of roster cuts to get them down to 75 players. The team needed to make the moves by Tuesday afternoon but instead of delaying the inevitable, they decided to make the moves right away. Below is the full list, including Geoff Schwartz who was already mentioned.
OG Geoff Schwartz
TE Matthew Mulligan
K Devon Bell
WR Quinshad Davis
OG Chase Farris
DE Deonte Gibson
DE Louis Palmer
CB Rashaad Reynolds
DE Quanterus Smith
CB Brandon McGee
Long snapper Jimmy Landes was conveniently added to injured reserve with a shoulder injury that requires surgery. The move is a bit suspicious given that Landes played the entire preseason game Saturday and performed terribly. Given that the Lions needed to either cut Landes or cut Don Muhlbach, adding Landes to injured reserve allows them to keep both.
EDIT: TE Brandon Pettigrew and WR Corey Fuller will start the season on the PUP list. Due to this designation, they do not count against the roster at this time.
