As we all expected when he cleared waivers, the Detroit Lions are planning to sign Jerome Couplin back to the practice squad. Considering he started the season on the team’s active roster, it was hard to imagine the Lions giving up on a rookie so quickly so it was expected that he would be back as soon as possible. Now that they have brought him back, he will likely continue to develop into the Lions safety of the future.
With the practice squad already being full, the team will have to open a spot for him which is why the move is not yet official. The sport could be open real soon. There is speculation that with Larry Warford being out for a few weeks the Lions may promote Rodney Austin. If they do that, Kellen Davis would likely get cut from the active roster as all three Lions tight ends practiced yesterday.
