The Detroit Lions are rumored to finally be done with the Nate Freese experiment this season. Last week they tried out three kickers to see what was out there before opting to stick with Freese for another week. Freese missed a field goal is yesterdays game against the Packers and apparently that was the last straw. Dave Birkett reported that of the three kickers that worked out last week, the Lions chose Alex Henery. From what Josh Katzenstein is reporting, Henery was the most impressive of the three to try out. Unfortunately though, the Lions only have two of those three to choose from as Rob Bironas tragically passed away from injuries in a car accident he was involved in late Saturday night.
No official announcement has been made by the team yet so this is still just a rumor, but it has been confirmed by several Lions beat writers with knowledge of the situation.
