The Detroit Lions made a “big” addition to their practice squad today. They signed 6’7″ receiver Ifeanyi Momah. Momah will likely be used to help the Lions corners prepare to play against the bigger receiver that Atlanta has in Julio Jones. Jones has to be a big concern for the team this week as he has been dominant in games that he plays. It also helps the team if they need another receiver with size to have Momah in their arsenal.
So far, Momah has been largely a practice squad player. He was signed by the Eagles in 2013 as an undrafted free agent out of Boston College. He did not make the Eagles active roster that year. He was added to the Cleveland Browns practice squad in 2014 but was eventually cut there as well. I do not see Momah being a long term player on the Detroit practice squad given he is the 3rd receiver on that unit and Detroit primarily uses 3 receiver sets.
