The Detroit Lions have signed defensive tackle Derrick Hopkins to the practice squad. He took the place of injured defensive tackle Xavier Proctor who was placed on IR today. Hopkins, who most recently played for Washington, is a rookie out of Virginia Tech. He is 6’0 314 pounds. It will be interesting to see what Hopkins can do due to his age. If the Lions end up losing both Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley next season, they could use an extra rotational defensive tackle if he is able to develop properly. As of now though, expect Hopkins to simply be a practice body.
