The Detroit Lions announced the addition of corner Ethan Davis to the 90 man roster today. This move fills the last open spot they had which was vacated during the Mohammed Seisay trade over the weekend. While adding Tony McDaniel is not completely out of the question, having the roster spot filled already makes it less likely they will be adding the veteran defensive tackle.
Davis, an undrafted free agent corner out of Troy, had a poor showing at his pro day, running a 4.75 forty yard dash. For a 5’10 188 pound corner, such a low speed will effectively keep him from making an impact in the NFL, especially against faster receivers. The move to add Davis is likely a training camp stop gap with Alex Carter being out with injury and his backup, Seisay, getting traded. Davis is of virtually no threat to take one of the 53 roster spots, but if he plays well he could earn a practice squad spot.
