The Detroit Lions were busy last night. They signed wide receiver Corey Washington and linebacker Khassem Greene to the practice squad to fill the spots vacated by Isaiah Johnson‘s promotion in Detroit and Kaelin Clay’s signing b the Baltimore Ravens. The signings completely fill their practice squad vacancies.
They also placed corner Josh Wilson on injured reserve. The move was expected as he suffered what Jim Caldwell called “a serious injury”. While he refused to say Wilson would be placed on IR, it was expected given the severity and the team’s lack of corner depth with Nevin Lawson battling a concussion.
While not official yet, the team is signing corner Bill Bentley to take Wilson’s spot. Bentley has spent several years with the Lions as their nickel corner but injuries forced the Lions to look elsewhere this season, cutting Bentley in favor of Wilson. Now, Bentley has a chance to show he can stay healthy and make an impact in Detroit.
