The Detroit Lions parted ways with defensive tackle Ish Kitchen today. The speculation is that the team will call up tight end Casey Pierce for Sunday’s game. Pierce, currently on the practice squad, could help with Eric Ebron battling a knee injury still and Brandon Pettigrew still not practicing. While Kitchen did not really make any impact on the team in Haloti Ngata‘s absense, the Lions have to feel like they still have a need at that position. Numbers wise, they have four defensive tackles when Ngata is healthy. Skill wise, the team needs a boost at the position. Ngata has not filled the hole left by Ndamukong Suh’s departure as well as the team had hoped.
