The Detroit Lions have released corner Danny Gorrer. He was the team’s nickel corner for 6 games prior to being released. He was signed to help out while the team sorted out their injuries at corner. With the current unknown status of defensive tackle Nick Fairley, the team needed to make a move at defensive tackle to have enough healthy players until making a determination on what to do with Fairley. The team will likely sign a defensive tackle to take Gorrer’s roster spot today or tomorrow.
With Gorrer being waived, he will be subject to possible waiver claims by other teams before becoming a free agent. If he goes unclaimed, the team could re-add him once they get healthy at tight end or defensive tackle.
