Detroit Lions Release Chris Houston

The Detroit Lions just announced the release of Chris Houston.  Houston, just two seasons ago was Detroit’s top corner.  He signed a 5 year $25 million contract last offseason but struggled mightily last season.  He underwent toe surgery in the offseason to repair the injury in hopes that he would regain form.  There was speculation that Houston would end up on the PUP list as a result of the surgery.  When he was absent from mandatory camp, there was curiosity about him not being there to at least learn the new defensive schemes.  This is apparently why.

After Tim Twentyman broke the news, he recanted the injury settlement part.So there you have it.  Chris Houston was released by the Detroit Lions making room for today’s earlier signing of Eric Ebron.
