The Detroit Lions brought back their starting corner Rashean Mathis today on a 2 year deal. The terms of the deal were 2 years, $3.5 million with a $1 million signing bonus. The deal essentially pays him $2 million in his first season. The deal is likely the one Mathis was looking for all along but the Lions were waiting to see if his demands would drop. Unfortunately for the team, but fortunately for Mathis, the corner market was strong this season and Mathis was garnering interest from teams. He wanted to remain in Detroit for more than one year, and the team gave that to him with this deal.
