Detroit Lions Play Well In Their First Pro Bowl

The Detroit Lions had three players play in their first ever Pro Bowl game on Sunday.  Two of them played for Team Irvin and one for Team Carter.  The lone Lion on Team Carter was Glover Quin.  Quin made a nice play to break up a pass by Team Irvin quarterback Matthew Stafford and finished with 5 tackles.

The stars of the game though were on Team Irvin.  Matthew Stafford, who won the offensive MVP, threw for over 300 yards in the first half, and had 2 touchdown passes.  He looked sharp for most of the game, and finished the game with an interception and a fumble.  While the turnovers soured an otherwise excellent performance, it did not stop other players from praising Stafford and his play.

The other star of the game was receiver Golden Tate.  He finished with 2 catches for 98 yards, but none bigger than the 60 yarder from Stafford that, had he not gotten caught from behind, would have scored.  In all, the players showing that they belong amond the NFL’s best is a good sign for the Detroit Lions franchise moving forward.
