The Detroit Lions made another addition to their battered defensive tackle group by signing former Cleveland Brown Ish Kitchen. Kitchen was one of the dozen or so in for a tryout yesterday, and while the team signed Andre Fluellen, apparently Kitchen made enough of an impact to force the team to make another move.
This move also is a bad sign for the Lions. It means that they feel like Haloti Ngata will not be ready to play this week against the hot Arizona Cardinals offense. Without Tyrunn Walker who was placed on injured reserve already and if Ngata indeed misses this week, that leaves the team with Gabe Wright, Jermelle Cudjo, Fluellen, and Caraun Reid.
To add Ish Kitchen, the Lions released defensive end Phillip Hunt. Hunt and Devin Taylor were battling for playing time so the release of Hunt seems to indicate that Taylor has earned the edge over Hunt.
