The Detroit Lions, who earlier today got to the 75 player limit, claimed Michael Egnew from the Dolphins and Emil Igwenagu from the Eagles. Egnew is a tight end and Igwenagu will play fullback. Both players are practice squad eligible so it is likely they just want to look at them prior to making practice squad decisions. Either way, now the Lions have to let two players go before Tuesday at 4pm. It will be interesting to see who they intend to release at this point. They are now at 77 players.
Also, outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy is battling an undisclosed injury. Some speculate that it may be a sports hernia. Van Noy is being evaluated currently to determine the seriousness of the injury. The Lions could be expecting to designate him to the short term IR and only need to release one player by tomorrow afternoon, but that is still unknown at this point.
