The Detroit Lions had a relatively quiet day yesterday with the only news being the re-signing of backup tight end Tim Wright. Wright was signed to a 1 year deal, with the cap hit expected to be less than the 1.6 million dollar tender that they chose not to place on him as a restricted free agent. The re-signing does not guarantee that Wright makes the team, but considering who is currently at the tight end position, there is a good chance he does make it.
The Lions are also scheduled to meet with free agent corner Antwon Blake today. Blake, a 5’9 corner from Pittsburgh, started every game last season and one game in 2014. While he did not have a very good year, he is a 25 year old corner with only 1 full year as a starter. Darius Slay‘s first year as a starter was a rocky one as well.
The Lions are also waiting for a decision from Russell Okung. It was reported that he has contract offers from Detroit, New York (Giants) and Pittsburgh. He finished his visit with Pittsburgh yesterday and is said to be weighing all offers before deciding. It was also reported that he is very seriously considering the Detroit Lions.
