Going through the Spotrac transaction logs in search of DeAndre Levy‘s contract numbers, I spotted a pair of transactions that I must have missed from yesterday. Since they are low level moves, I figured I would cover both here.
The Detroit Lions claimed defensive end Jerel Worthy, who was released from the Kansas City Chiefs. Worthy, a 25 year old former second round pick from Michigan State, is likely getting a look due to Jason Jones‘ injury. Having been claimed off waivers, the team now has him for this season and next season under contract should be make the roster. While it is not likely that he will, it is worth noting that George Johnson was not expected to make the team either, yet he was considered a free agent loss after recording 6 sacks with the Lions last season.
Since the team was over the 90 man limit, their corresponding move was to release linebacker Jerrell Harris. Harris has signed and been cut several times by the Lions. While it is possible we see him return again at some point, I think it is unlikely given his release happening from the 90 man roster as opposed to the practice squad.
